Note: | During a portion of the mid- to late-1800s, the George Ehret Brewery was the largest-producing beer company in America. George Ehret died in 1927. After Prohibition, the large brewery complex, located on the upper east side of Manhattan, was absorbed by its next-door neighbor, the Jacob Ruppert brewery. |
